The Human Rights Council (HRC) is a council at MUN conferences that specifically debates human rights issues. This council was formed as part of the UN system for the purpose of trying to improve human rights situations in specific places and to be able to monitor the control of human rights in countries that violate these rights.

Please note that the main essence of debate in regard to the topics of the Human Rights Commission is not what to do to solve the problem, but rather, how to solve the problem (as the majority of the states agree to stop a situation, but differ on how it should be done).

Sample topics

You might notice some overlapping keywords in HRC topics- human trafficking, human rights violations, etc. Make sure to familiarise yourself with such terms, as they will provide insight into how you should approach the issue.
